James is a former vice-president of the Kings Cross Steelers RFC, a frequent visitor to National Trust, English Heritage, and cadw properties, and goes to the cinema an almost indecent number of times in the year.

During lockdown he started learning Welsh and developed a penchant for baking and can now rustle up a mean batch of scones and an even meaner bara brith.

He is rarely happier than when visiting the National Theatre (and many others) and, when he has time, loves nothing better than going for long muddy walks and eating cream teas – ideally not simultaneously.
